Watch Your Mailboxes…

…because Save The Date postcards have been mailed! Class of ‘78 class lists from the Millay Club and the SMG Alumnae Association were merged and updated thanks to the reunion committee and the alumni who responded to requests for updated contact information. Unfortunately, there are still large gaps in the database. If you’re interested in attending the reunion, make sure to get in touch!

If you receive a Save The Date postcard, you don’t need to do anything else as the reunion committee has your information. But if you didn’t get a postcard and are looking forward to getting together with old friends this November, it’s important that you contact the reunion committee at neumanngoretti78@gmail.com with your updated contact information.

This mailing is just a reminder about the reunion. As the date draws closer, the committee will be in touch again with details about tickets and pricing for the reunion. Until then, we hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

Latest Update

Your Reunion Committee is hard at work attempting to secure a venue for our 30 year reunion. In the mean time, we need your help to spread the word. Contact any Class of ‘78 members that you’re still in touch with and let them know what’s going on. Send them here, tell them to sign up for our email list, or have them contact us at our new email address : neumanngoretti78@gmail.com.

Missing Friends

It was announced on the email list this week that one of our classmates, Joe McKeown, had passed away. During the ensuing conversation, other Class of ‘78 members who had also passed away were remembered. I thought it appropriate to remember them here as well. If you visit the In Memoriam page, you can leave a comment honoring our old friends. If you know of someone that’s not on the list but should be, you can leave a comment for that as well.

Looking For Alumni

If you’re a member of the Class of ‘78 from Bishop Neumann High School or Saint Maria Goretti High School in South Philadelphia, we’re looking for you! Head over to the Email List Page and leave a comment and we’ll get you set up on the alumni email list.

The Reunion Committee will be meeting soon to begin working out the details for this 30 year get-together, so if you don’t want to be left out make sure you get in touch with us!

South Philly’s Finest

On Friday, June 9th, 1978 the last graduating class of Bishop Neumann High School in South Philadelphia walked out of Convention Hall and into the wide world. Our namesake had been canonized barely a year before, and in the fall the school’s name would change to Saint John Neumann High School. But as the old adage reminds us, the only constant is change. Our school began life as Southeast Catholic High School, and Saint John Neumann had to eventually merge with our sister school, Saint Maria Goretti High School.

It seems fitting then, that in 2008, 30 years after leaving our school behind, the guys from Neumann are joining forces with the girls from Goretti to put together a reunion of the Class of 1978. This blog will feature updates about the reunion plans and help the alumni from both schools get back in touch with each other.

South Philly will never be the same…
